Jean-Louis Schoellkopf (born in Colmar, France,
1946) gave up his work as a reporter in the 1970' to concentrate on the notion of
portrait enlarged to the scale of the city.
The photographic series that he
develops are based on the shared and unique configurations created by human relationships,
particularly within families.
He covers social situations that
reflect life styles as well as cultural and aesthetic models.
On his own initiative or through commissions, he has worked on the
cities of Saint-Etienne, Genova,
Rotterdam, Stuttgart,
Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing, barcelona, Paris ans is continuing his series
on the
great ports of Europe.
